Edition comes packed with features and most of them are indeed configurable. So the first thing you should do after installing and activating the theme, is to head on over to the Theme Options Page. There you’ll find all the crucial settings, just waiting for your tampering. You’ll find the Theme Options page located in the left column, just above Appearance. Inside we have divided available setting into four tabs – General, Homepage, Advertisment and Import/Export.

The options available under the Import/Export tab enables you to import or export your theme settings.
There are three menu locations in the Edtion theme – in the top right corner (Secondary Menu), horizontally under the logo (Header Menu) and in the footer (Footer Menu). To create your menus and manage their placement, head over to Appearance ➝ Menus. There you can create as many different menus you want, and then assign the menus you want to the different menu locations.
The homepage will automatically show all the latest posts, slides and videos published. But when you first install and activate the theme, it may not look much like the demo, but do not worry. All you need to do is configure some settings.
In order for the slider to work, on the homepage as well as in Category pages, you have to assign posts to it.
1. Set the Featured Image
Start by making sure you have set the Featured Image for the post you wish to include in the Slider. The dimensions of the image should be no less than 620 pixels wide and 400 pixels high. Open the post you want to include, or create a new post, and open the Media Uploader by clicking the camera/music note icon above the text editor. Choose an existing image from the Gallery or upload your image and select Use as Featured Image next to the Insert into Post button.
2. Select Feature Post in Slider
After you have selected a Featured Image, it will appear in thumbnail form to the right of the text editor. You’ll also see a box named Feature Post just above it. That’s where you choose if you want to feature the post in the video section or in the Slider. Select Feature this post in slider and Update/Publish the post.
In the bottom section of the homepage, there are three sections displaying the latest posts from three different categories. You can choose from which categories to show latest posts, by going to the Theme Options Page ➝ Homepage and selecting your desired categories.
One of the more unique features of the Edition theme, is the extended look of Category pages. Instead on just one homepage, you can now have any number of category-homepages – all with their own Slider, Video section etc. Each category page works on its own, based only on the posts published within that category.
Edition comes with four page templates – Archives, Contact, Full Width and Sitemap. To set up these pages you need to create a new page for each and then select the page template from the dropdown list under Page Attributes.
The Contact page template includes the email form. To get them up and running, all you have to do is head over to the Theme Options Page ➝ General and type in your email under the option Email.
There are four separate widget-areas in Edition. Go to Appearance ➝ Widgets to add widgets to the sidebar. Simply drag and drop into General Sidebar.
You can display ad banner on numerous positions throughout the theme. These “ad spots” are configurable via the Theme Options Page and Widget area.
The spot we are talking about is of course where the Apple advertisement is placed in the demo. To replace it with your own ad, simple go to Appearance ➝ Widgets and add your linked image in the Sidebar Ad widget area. Use an HTML-widget when placing your ad, recommended banner dimensions are 300 pixels wide and 290 pixels high.
To display an horizontal landscape ad under the top menu, over the Slider and Sidebar, you first need to activate this “ad spot”. Go to the Theme Options Page ➝ Advertisement ➝ Show Header Ad and select “yes”. Then go to Appearance ➝ Widgets and place your linked image (980 pixels wide) inside a HTML-widget in the Horizontal Ad widget area.
We’ve also made room to display vertical ads on both sides of the content. To display an ad to the left of the content, go to the Theme Options Page ➝ Advertisement ➝ Left Vertical Ad Image and upload your banner image. Add the link in the option below.
To display an ad to the right of the content, go to the Theme Options Page ➝ Advertisement ➝ Right Vertical Ad Image and upload your banner image. Add the link in the option below.
In the footer, by default, we’ve included a nice little function that keeps count on all your readers. The number of readers is a result of adding your Facebook fans, Twitter followers and Feedburner subscribers. To get it working you need to add you user information for Facebook, Twitter and Feedburner by going to the Theme Options Page ➝ General and type in the url to your Twitter page and Facebook fan page, and also the username of your Feedburner account. Within 12 hours you reader count will have been updated.
To add/edit your Footer menu, got to Appearance ➝ Menus and assign your desired menu to menu location “Footer menu”.
A big footer area is a popular feature, so we just had to include the option. To enable the footer widget area got to the Theme Options Page ➝ General ➝ Display Big Footer and select “yes”. Then go to Appearance ➝ Widgets and add the widgets your want to show in the footer. It is recommended not to use more than 3 widgets in the footer, as not to break the design.
By going to them Theme Options Page ➝ General ➝ Logo and uploading your logo there. Easy peezy!
Go to Theme Options Page ➝ General ➝ Color Scheme and select your color. This will affect the header background color as well as button and link colors throughout the theme. To add a background image or pattern upload the image in the option below named Background Pattern. Not that the background image is placed over the selected color in Color Scheme, so it is advisable to use transparency if uploading a seamless pattern.
