Installation

Installing WordPress

Before you can start using our themes, you need to have WordPress up and running on your website or local server. Installing WordPress is super-easy, and should not take more than 5 minutes. For further instructions on how to install the latest version of WordPress, please visit the WordPress.org Codex.

Logged in, you will also be able to download the theme directly at the Edition theme page. The themes files come in .zip format for you to unzip and upload via FTP to wp-content / themes of your WordPress installation. You can of course also choose to upload the zip-file and install the theme from the WordPress-admin, under the tab Appearence >> Themes. There, you’ll see two tabs at the top of the page – Manage Themes and Install Themes. Click the tab Install Themes and upload the zip file.

Configuration

Logo Setup

From the admin, go to the “Theme Options” page under the tab “General”, located in the left column, above the “Appearance” tab decorated with our monster mascot.

The first setting under the “General” tab is named “Logo” where you can upload you own logo (recommended proportions 228×36). Don’t forget to hit “Save” when you’re done to see the changes.

Adding a Favicon

By default, the Monster Themes mascot will diplay as favicon. Replace him, by uploading your own under the setting “Favicon” in the “Theme Options” page, under the “General” tab. A helpful resource in making favicon is this Favicon Generator.

Changing the Theme’s Color Scheme

You can change the defalt color scheme of the whole theme, as on display in the header and footer. Simply choose your own color from our in-house color picker, located under the setting “Color Scheme” in the “Theme Options” page under the “General” tab. Keeping the color darkish is recommended as i.e the text in the slider will remain white, and any background patterns added may not display to your satisfaction.

Adding a background pattern

The way the theme is built, any added background pattern will appear on top of the default or by you chosen color. Keeping the pattern slightly transpatent is thus recommended. The background pattern is also set to repeat, so keeping the the pattern seemless is advisable.

Add your own pattern by locating the setting “Background Pattern” in the “Theme Options” page, under the “General” tab. Don’t forget to hit “Save” when you’re done configuring.

Configuring Footer Social Media Icons

Configure the Contact Page Google Map

For this neat feature to function correctly, the only thing you need to do is add the specific Google Maps link of your location. You get the link by heading over to Google Maps, make a search on your desired location and, once found, just clicking the “link chain” icon and copy the link. Then you head back to the admin, and paste the link in the “Theme Options” page, under the “General” tab in the setting “Google Map”. Hit “Save” and refresh you browser window a couple of time to see the new map.

Homepage Settings

The Slider

The slider located in the header of the homepage can be configured from the admin, in the “Theme Options” page under the tab “Homepage”, located in the left column, above the “Appearance” tab decorated with our monster mascot. There you can control the animation, if you want the slider to switch slides automatically or not. You can also choose how many posts you wish to show in the slider.
